June is filled with beautiful summer flowers, and what better way to showcase them than by creating a stunning personalized vase? With just a few simple steps, you can transform a plain glass vase into a charming piece that proudly displays the beauty of the season.
Here are the steps I used
Step 1
Gather Your Materials
Start by finding a plain glass vase from your collection. I found one among my “stash” that was perfect for this project. Next, using a silhouette machine, I created a stencil with the phrase “Fresh from my Garden.”
Step 2
Applying the Stencil
Once your stencil is ready, carefully place it on the vase. Make sure it’s securely adhered to avoid any gaps where etching creme can seep through.
Step 3
Applying the Etching Creme
Now, it’s time to add the etching creme. I used Etchall creme, applying it over the stencil. It’s okay if the creme is a darker color, as it will do the job just fine.
Step 4
Removing the Etching Creme
After letting the creme sit for about 15 minutes, use a squeegee to remove it. Carefully scrape the creme back into its container, as it can be reused for future projects.
Step 5
Adding Finishing Touches
To make the etched words stand out even more, I added some silver “Rub’nBuff” to accentuate the lettering. This step is optional but adds a lovely touch.
Step 6
Displaying Your Creation
Finally, I tied a ribbon around the vase and added some very bright yellow artificial summer daffodils. While I originally hoped to use fresh flowers, these artificial ones turned out beautifully and will last all season long.
Tips for Success
Font Choice: When choosing a font for your stencil, be mindful of how the letters connect. In my project, the two “m’s” in “from my” blended together due to the font choice. Ensure there’s enough spacing between the letters to avoid this issue.
Etching Creme Application: Make sure the stencil is firmly adhered to the vase to prevent etching creme from seeping underneath.
Creating a personalized vase is a fun and rewarding project that adds a unique touch to your home decor. Plus, it’s a great way to showcase the vibrant beauty of summer flowers, whether fresh or artificial. Give it a try and enjoy your beautiful summer flower arrangement!
