Valentine’s Day Mason Jars with etchall Creme!

With Valentine’s Day arriving soon, here is a cute gift idea using small mason jars! I used ½ pint Kerr’s mason jars. I removed the lids and cleaned the glass area with alcohol (to remove fingerprints, oil, etc.) where you will etch the words. The jars are small, so I chose to have only one or two words. I used a Silhouette cutter to make the word(s) “Enjoy” and “Hot Stuff” and picked a cursive-type font. I placed the yellow etchmask stencil on the opposite side of the jar that had the “Kerr’s” logo (1) and then removed the back side to stick it to the glass (2). (Note: Make sure you place the yellow stencil of the word low enough on the jar so you can read it once the lid is placed on it.)
Here are the steps I used
Step 1
With Valentine’s Day arriving soon, here is a cute gift idea using small mason jars! I used ½ pint Kerr’s mason jars. I removed the lids and cleaned the glass area with alcohol (to remove fingerprints, oil, etc.) where you will etch the words. The jars are small, so I chose to have only one or two words. (Note: Make sure you place the yellow stencil of the word low enough on the jar so you can read it once the lid is placed on it.)
Step 2
I removed the transfer tape on the front side and then removed the letters from the yellow stencil with a pic tool.
Step 3
(Note: I put the transfer tape at the top of my jar to place the letters as I removed them from the stencil. This was my “garbage container.”)
Step 4
I added more yellow etchmask stencil on the side and bottom of the word(s) to protect the glass from the creme. Using your squeegee, go over the stencil once again to make sure no etching creme seeps underneath it.
Step 5
Add the etching creme with the squeegee or spoon. Make sure you cover all the letters to be etched.
Step 6
Let it set for 15 minutes. Remove the creme and place it back into the etching creme container. It is reusable! Then wash off the jar with running water to remove excess creme.
Step 7
Last, I removed the yellow paper, cleaned the jar, and it’s ready to fill with treats. It was hard to read the word , so I added some silver “Buff n Rub” creme to the etched word(s) to make them more readable.
Here are the finished jars! One says “Hot Stuff” and I filled it with cinnamon hot reds. The other jars say “Enjoy”and I filled them with peppermint candies (or your choice of candy). Finally, I decorated the lids with some heart Washi tape.
